DIY Hydrating Hair Mask

October 7, 2015

Hello, hello.. welcome, how’s it going? Let’s chat a bit, grab a seat and switch off for a minute, take a deep breath and relax! Feeling better? You’ve survived the worst, pat your back, only two more days for the weekend! Lets do this! So that was me trying to be your personal therapist, did you feel it there? Yes? no? Well, I tried! (shrugging my shoulders)

So if you follow me on Instagram or if you live under a rock (wow, perfect example of subtle marketing, nailed it!) Yeah, so if you follow me there or my blog, you will know I recently visited Lake Tahoe. The aftermath of being in not so hair-friendly weather, left my hair feeling very dry and brittle. So, I tried this amazing hair mask,it made a huge difference and added the much needed moisture back into my hair.

Like always,it’s a very simple diy with items from your kitchen, we will need an avocado and olive oil. Avocado is rich in good fat and oils that are not only great for your body, but also your hair. Olive oil is extremely hydrating and the combination of these two, will definitely add moisture and repair your dry hair. You can add a lot of variation to this mask, depending on your hair type, with an addition of honey, egg or lemon. I decided to keep it very basic with the two main things, as my goal was to treat and condition my dry hair.

Things you need

  • 1 Avocado
  • Olive oil/oil of your choice
  • A bowl & fork

Prep it

  • Cut open the avocado and scoop the contents out into a bowl.
  • Mash  and whip it up well, make sure there are very few to no lumps in the mixture.
  • Add your favorite hair oil, I’ve added olive oil and mix it well.
  • You can also choose to add a few drops of lemon, if you have dandruff or even egg yolk for extra conditioning.

Bask in the Mask

After you’ve prepped the mask mixture, apply it all over the scalp and to the lengths of your hair. Do this carefully, some lumps of the mixture may fall out and make a mess. Leave this mask on, for about 30 mins and wash off with your favorite shampoo. Make sure you wash your hair well under the shower or you will notice some lumps still sticking to your hair. Annd tadaa.. you will be left with shiny, soft and well moisturized hair!

I hope you liked this simple diy, if you do try this, let me know how it worked for you.

Have a great day!
