Indian Chai- On the Go | Nature’s Guru

Cardamom, Ginger, Classic Chai Mix- c/o Nature’s Guru

Sipping a cup of hot masala chai every morning has been my favorite ritual for years. To come to think of it, I get out of bed longing for that sweet taste of chai and the burst of flavors from all the spices. If you’re from India, you’d know that in most houses drinking chai is a daily rite of passage. For us, chai is more than just a cup of tea to start the day- it is an integral part of the rhythm of life.

Chai is so deeply ingrained in India, that you’ll find chai wallahs (men selling chai) at every corner of the road. If you ever walk into a busy street, the roadsides will be dotted with chai wallahs that serve chai from boiled up milk, sugar and spices- all throughout the day! It’s fascinating to see how the taste of chai and the method of making it, changes from state to state and yet the chai brings in the same sense of respite irrespective of the way it’s made. Chai is made in every household regardless of the weather- where on one side, winters definitely make a great backdrop for that hot cup of goodness, blazing hot summers too pose no threat to this tradition.

Chai merely meaning “tea” in Hindi, has travelled all the way across the world and intrigued the senses of westerners for years. Masala Chai has become increasingly famous in the UK and US, with coffee chains selling poorly spiced, pale imitations of this classic Indian beverage and supermarkets offering chai mix in tea bags and powdered drinks. I prefer to recreate the ultimate chai experience at home on the hob. That being said- I know for sure that my fellow Indians who live in foreign countries, or even people who have a strong connection with chai, would agree that finding a perfect cup of chai when ON THE GO is almost an impossible hunt! I’ve definitely been a victim of ordering chai at various restaurants and not enjoying it at all and this is exactly why I decided to try Nature’s Guru‘s Instant Chai mix.

I am a fuss pot when it comes to my cup of chai and that’s my confession! My chai needs to be a certain way, very few people can get it right- unless that person is close to me and knows just how it’s done. I am making this clear because I understand that a fresh cup of tea is any day better than an instant chai mix available in the market.

I understand that people would be hesitant and prejudiced against trying an instant chai mix, just like I was before Nature’s Guru contacted me. But one needs to also understand that even for serious chai lovers, there is a place for instant tea- in a hotel room while traveling, for example, or at an office where only hot water is at your reach.

I am going to be very honest in my review because I know the disappointment that comes along with a bad cup of chai, especially if you’re at work or traveling. When Nature’s Guru contacted me to review their line of instant chai mix, I was definitely skeptical- mostly because my past experiences of using similar tea bags from other brands have been quite upsetting. So, I was pretty sure that this story too would have a sad ending.

Surprisingly- on the contrary, I was super impressed with the instant chai mix from Nature’s Guru, which was so simple and easy to make.

The taste of Nature’s Guru- instant chai mix came very close to the strong, silky, creamy, pungent, sweet, and slightly spicy taste of a freshly made cup of chai.

I tried three different flavors of instant chai mix from Nature’s Guru– Cardamom, Ginger and Classic Chai. My favorite was the strong flavored cardamom chai, while my husband loved the ginger mix.

What I love about Nature’s Guru- Instant Chai Mix

Easy Peasy– It’s super easy and simple to make- an instant hassle free answer to your cup of goodness- no steeping or brewing.

Unsweetened Options– Most of the instant chai mix brands that I’ve tried previously had sugar added to them and they always ended up being too sweet for my taste. So, needless to say I was pleasantly surprised to find unsweetened options available at Nature’s Guru. This is perfect for those trying to cut back on sugar and it also leaves room for adding any sweetener based on one’s taste.

Fresh Flavors and Taste– The instant mix includes powdered milk, powdered tea and various spices  based on the flavor- the masalas taste quiet fresh, the sealed foil packets do a great job at preserving the freshness and flavor.

No Milk Needed– Having powdered milk already in the mixture, makes it a winner for me (I ain’t no black tea drinker)- I noticed that the powdered milk too tasted very fresh because sometimes it can taste stale or even rancid, but not this one!

One Stir Chai– The powder mix is not only fresh, it also dissolves very easily, needing just a stirring. It also doesn’t start settling back quickly at the bottom of the cup either.

A Lazy Day Companion– This is perfect for days when you’re lazy and sluggish to make a cup of masala chai from scratch, or if you have friends over at your place- just tear open packets of Nature’s Guru’s instant mix and enjoy your evening over a cup of warm chai.

Variety of Chai Flavors– What I also like about Nature’s Guru- they have a variety of chai flavors like vanilla, cardamom, masala, ginger, lemongrass and classic chai. This is such an advantage when you want to switch up and try something new apart from your regular chai.

Travel Friendly– These packets are so travel friendly and can be easily carried around while traveling or stored in your office drawer for a quick refreshing cup of chai- that’s just a hot water away!

It may not be a freshly made cup of goodness but it definitely comes very close to it- a rich cup of chai that is invigorating to your senses. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves a good cup of chai and is curious to try instant chai flavors- Nature’s Guru will not disappoint you!

My personal favorite would be the cardamom chai, a clear winner!

Thank you Swati! I had always been apprehensive of instant chai sachets and the Chai Latte doesnt really do justice. This seems to be the right answer when you are craving for a simply piping hot chai!
