I love narrating stories and even more so listening to them, especially if it’s- chasing your dream story, I’m all ears. If you put me in a room full of people I’d be intrigued to hear the stories some faces tell and try to read the ones that hide. One such story is about two admirable women Gopi Vaid and Arnaz Soonawalla, who chased their dream of creating the label Gopi Vaid Designs. Gopi and Arnaz, two childhood friends from school grew up together, took up different professions and for a few years went on to lead their lives separately. Until one day when they reconnected, Gopi shared with Arnaz her longtime dream of creating her own label and designing clothes for women. They immediately knew their dreams and thoughts aligned and they took the bold decision of transforming that dream into reality! Although they both were not professionally trained for this business- Gopi; a lawyer and Arnaz; an ENT specialist, they knew they had the passion and drive to make this work. Gopi belonged to an artistic household so she came with a strong sense of understanding with regard to fabrics, craftsmanship and the business dynamics that helped a great deal.

Gopi and Arnaz both have a great sense of individualistic style and they try to add a bit of both into every piece they create, to make it truly theirs. It feels amazing when you hear a story where two women- friends turned business partners support each other and become one another’s strength whilst they achieve their goals. Gopi Vaid Studio recently opened their first store in the district of Kala Ghoda, Mumbai, India. They’re extremely excited about this new beginning and are looking forward to experimenting, creating exclusive pieces and evolving as designers-enterpreneurs. Their studio predominantly carries a wide range of vibrant colorful kurtas, tunics, kaftans, skirts and tops that have a fine balance between traditional and contemporary feel. Apart from the new studio at Kala Ghoda their collection is also available at Design one and Aza. They also take custom orders for weddings (bridal wear, bridesmaids etc) and ship internationally too. If you’re not based out of Mumbai-India, then you can get in touch with them on their Facebook page and drop your queries there.

When Gopi reached out to me and shared her story, I was inspired to say the least and was in awe of her passion, style and collection. Every time I talk to such amazing inspiring women, I feel happy to have started this blog because of which I get to connect, to know and share their stories with the world. It happens very rarely that just over a conversation and without having met in person, you instantly connect with someone through their ideas, aesthetic visualizations and artistic sense, this exactly happened to me when I spoke to Gopi. This admiration only became stronger when I received this beautiful leheriya print sky blue maxi kurta with beautiful mirror work on the neckline. The material was soft; of great quality and the comfortable fit spoke volumes about the skillful tailoring. I paired the kurta with a skirt and gave the generic pants a miss, trust me this whole look felt so comfortable I didn’t want to take it off. I’m glad to have found such a great label backed by such passionate creators who work in sync with the craftsmen, the tailors and the customers at every level. In this world filled with unending options online/offline Gopi & Arnaz have managed to create a base of happy loyal customers through the years. I really insist you visit their beautiful store at Kala Ghoda and if you can’t, then check out their facebook page here for more information.

I really hope you took away a little inspiration by this dream chase story and enjoyed reading the post. As always thanks for stopping by, have a great day! Also, wishing each of you a very Happy Deepavali in advance!
