For a person who apparently has a fashion blog, I am not so much of a fashion person. What I mean is, I haven’t studied fashion nor do I know of the latest happenings or what’s ‘trending’ in the fashion capital. In my mind I’am still the confused ‘I have nothing to wear’ girl.Fashion has always been a way of expressing my emotions, state of mind, blending old with new, playing with textures, colors, prints and experimenting with the basics. So when you tell me to dress up I always think of dressing down. For some reason just playing it down excites me as much as wearing that low cut red gown with high heels and walking down like a bawse with a kickass red lipstick. But let’s be honest, ain’t nobody got time to look like that for 24 hours of 7 days of the eventful week! So basics work the best for me, they may seem less exciting though.Pondering over the paradoxes of life, I realize my expression of fashion too is a part of it. How the idea of fashion in my mind has changed over the years. Earlier it was all about how dressed ‘up’ I was, now it’s more about setting the ‘less is more’ theory right. It’s all about keeping it minimal, keeping it clean.Taking cues from my Instagram feed that boasts of pictures with clean silhouettes, minimalist photography, a frame capturing the essence of cities, people, nature using the simplest of sensibilities is what attracts me the most. This outfit pretty much summarizes my attempt at combining the two worlds of dressing up and keeping it minimal, blurring the lines in this paradoxical equation. The basics I can’t let go off and the shirt dress worn as a cardigan with the neckpiece is my idea of dialing it up.
I hope you enjoyed this post, thanks for reading. Until next time, have a great week ahead!
