Hand cuff/Earrings: Forever 21
I hope you had a great weekend! Even though summer is still here in all its glory, I still have the urge to pull out a black outfit from my wardrobe. Back in college I was so obsessed with black that I literally had 80% of my wardrobe in that color. I think one can never get over this color, its flattering on all body types and just adds that extra something every single time.
Come summer black becomes a sinful color to wear, but I always find myself wanting to wear one black outfit.I would obviously not prefer wearing it in the day under the scorching sun, but an evening look can be very well pulled together. I’ve always loved loose fit or shift dresses that don’t have a waist.. aah what a relief it is, when you can eat to your heart’s content without having to hold your stomach in 😉 I literally own zero body con dresses because I know my body would refuse to look good in them 🙂
I’am drawn towards plain block color dresses a lot, I feel they give you so much scope to experiment and add your own style to it. It’s like a blank canvas, you can draw what you like! I love the idea of making the outfit yours by styling and adding your own touch to it. So this dress may or may not appeal to many people for the simple fact that it lacks curves and basically is boxy and straight. A simple waist belt will solve that problem for you, I did not choose to wear any because I love the loose fit and honestly I wanted to keep it minimal and effortless. What I also liked, this dress was knee length and not like your usual LBD and the slightly varied, high low cut on the side of this dress added uniqueness. If you decide to wear black in summers choose a breathable fabric and a slightly comfortable fit.
You can go experimenting with this dress, I can literally come up with n number of looks with it. One of them is the one I’am showcasing today.I will definitely show you how you can style this dress in a completely different way in my upcoming posts.Today’s look, like I said I wanted to keep it effortless and as minimal as possible because honestly that is my style. This look can be worn for a summer evening/night look, on a date or just a fun night with friends.
I kept the dress on its own and untouched, styled it with some gold colored accessories, bronze eye shadow and an orange lip. The dress and accessories were subtle, so I wanted to really add a pop of color with the summer’s favorite, orange lips! For my shoes, I wore these gold colored ballerinas to keep up with the gold and black theme. A pair of heels would really take this look a notch up, but I don’t wear heels. Yeah, go ahead judge me, It’s not possible for me to walk in them 🙂 As usual my hair is in a bun, it’s a constant struggle for me during summers because my hair is long and I feel really hot when left open. This bun comes to my rescue! In other news, my mom asked me why I don’t ever comb my hair neatly. Damn! 😛
I would really love to hear your feedback and your thoughts on this look. Please do share your comments 🙂 Have a great week!
