Being fashionable or having your own fashion voice doesn’t necessarily translate into empty wallets and friends calling you a spend thrift. Over the years I’ve learnt that you don’t HAVE to purchase everything that celebrities sport or advertise as being trendy. Yes, it’s amazing to be on top of the fashion game and walk around sporting trends that have JUST hit the stores! While that may suit some people’s lifestyle others may have to wait till those pieces are replaced and put in the sale section. So if you suffer from FOMO, then what you should necessarily do is- invest wisely in timeless pieces. Hunt down the pieces that have been on rotation from several decades and save it in your wardrobe till they hit the runways again. If you noticed, this year’s summer/fall season trends were majorly 90’s inspired and most likely those pieces will work until they’re completely washed out. Being wise fashionably also means using pieces that you already own in a different way every single time.

For my first holiday look I brought out my old vintage inspired satin pants and paired it with a short satin slip dress that I repurposed to play the top. Like I mentioned in my previous post, decluttering my wardrobe for the winter has brought back many old pieces that were buried under newer ones. This pair of satin pants bring out a strong vintage vibe and definitely are my new favorite! I wish I could live in these for days, they’re so soft against the skin and so comfortable that I’d wear it every time I head out for a four course meal! Initially I was planning on pairing it with a simple sweater and while I pondered over that, I spotted this short satin dress. I immediately tried it on as a top by tucking it in and because it was a short dress, it worked easily. When put together, the satin texture of both pieces blended easily; the colors and prints worked well too. This look is perfect for anyone who is leaning towards minimal skin show and avoiding dresses or skirts this season. To make this look more holiday friendly, add a pair of sparkly earrings or a velvet choker and you’re all set to hit the party.

Thanks for stopping by, have a great holiday week!
