We have a funnily functioning mind, the more you tell it to work, the more it moves slowly. Our minds are hugely influenced by what we feed into it constantly- 24 hours of the day. Feed- literally and metaphorically, if you know what I mean. I’am not into fitness (as you can probably tell) and nor am I fit, I mean I do the occasional running and cycling at the gym but that is it. Since winter has kicked in, it has become increasingly difficult to wake up from under the layers of blanket and tell my mind to hit the gym instead. This past weekend was a gloomy 3 day rain event that took over Atlanta. During which, I did nothing except watch The Mindy Project (gotta love her), order pizza and drink hot tea 2-3 times a day with an extra spoon of sugar! It felt extremely good, I mean what’s not to like about eating a slice of pizza and watching tv? Yup, that feeling lasted exactly for two whole days and by the third day I felt like I was going to throw up (my desi aunties hold your horses, it’s not a baby call) from all the cheese and couch potato-ing I did for 3 days. So, this week I decided that a seasonal change cannot dictate and take over my life. I can’t push away my priorities into the dim background of my mind, mask it under the layers of blankets and sleep away. This week I made a conscious effort to eat clean-cut off all junk, I read up about the food I ate and cut down sugar too. Being the foodie that I am, trust me this wasn’t easy at all, but to my surprise I was able to sustain this routine for an entire week. The results are- I haven’t been more energetic in a long time, I am reading/working more-sleeping less and I am happier! I hope I stick to this and don’t fall prey to my cravings. This brings me to something I’ve realized very recently, our minds are way stronger than we think and give credit for. It has the ability to take in and bounce back from any situation, however bad. So, incase you’re feeling the winter blues too- tell your mind this is not the time to hibernate and get going.
Only very recently ( since I started this blog) I have been consciously investing in-must have pieces. Like a good leather jacket, a well fitted pair of jeans, a classic black dress and so on. These pieces are beyond fast fashion and something that will always have your back irrespective of you turning older. One of those pieces has to be this powder blue wool blazer. Before I purchased this one, I owned just one black blazer and this is my second one to the collection. What I like about this coat is that it’s structured yet not too formal. I paired it with a suede floral top- perfect for the drop in temperature and a pair of jeans. I didn’t want to try too hard or experiment, kept it casual and warm.
On a different note, thank you so much for the love on my previous post-Lipsticks for Winter. I didn’t expect such a positive response, let me know if you have any other topics you want me to write about.
Thanks for stopping by, have a great day!
